Audience Profile
What age are your audience?
The target audience are aged around sixteen to twenty pkus years olds that are intrested in music and have a background knowledge on the music. It also for people who are wanting to keep up to date with current music as well as old music. I thought that making this our age group audience is the best to target due to younger generation to inform and keep them up to date with music.
What other music magazines do they like?
This sort of target audience is similar to magazines such as: Q, karrange and NME. This gives us ideas on how to set the layout of the magazine and shows us how to get our target audiences to buy our magazine rather than competitors.
What other intrestes do they have? (e.g. what music might they listen to?)
This target audience are intrested in all sorts of music from the classic music to up to date music such as lady gaga, lily allen, green day, and ACDC etc. They have a wide range of music that they are intrested in so we can include so many generes in the magazine. This gives us a wide range to talk about in the magazine instead of sticking to one section of music industry, giving more options for the readers and audience of the magazine, so it's suited for all music lovers. With deciding it has a mass target auidence making it more popular, but could also be reffered with having a niche auidence, but aimed at all music fans.
How would they spend their money?
People that are targeted on buying music magazine tend to spend there money on Ipod's, music CDs and the magazines. So it's for young adults that can afford a bit more expensive magazine, so for music lovers they are more likely to pay for expensive music magazine. People who will be dedicated with buying the magazine monthly who are commited will spend money on band merchandise, band tickets. We could improve the technology of the magazine by offering Apps for our audience to purchase for Ipad's and Ipod's so this could
What expectations might they have?
They will want a magazine that has the key information on gigs, tours, festival with a wide range of artists and fun. They will want a magazine that will stand out from the others and competitions to gigs or meeting the artists.

What is wanted to be achieved!
By researching a range of magazines, Q magazine is what we aim for the
magazines to look similar like and have similar themes throughout. Also Q
and our target audience will be similar and seeing how they attract
audiences from their front cover, and gave us an idea of how we want
the layout our magazine for the similar audience, aiming it as young
adults and music lovers, typically ages 18+. Want to use bright and
simple colour scheme of red, black, white, blue and gold having a theme
throughout so it isn't boring but still attracts the audience and
readers. Our logo should be simple but still catchy so it's easily
remembered magazine making the logo a one word signature stamp so it
become more professional. Using models on our front cover is going to be
the main focus point of the magazine so therefore they must be of good
standard quality and well thought, and decide what poses we could
possibly use, fashion ideas for the model to make the magazine more
attractive and a confident looking magazine.

Ideas
Came up with ideas about what magazines know of which included well magazines such as Q, Vibe, Smash Hits, Kerrang, Q. Then we thought of some well known artists that would be included in magazines and thought of Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Kings of Leon, Kanye West. Then decided what colours look professional for music magazine that will make it more noticable for readers, this colours included green, yellow, black, white, red, gold and blue, so these are the colours that going to be considered when making my magazine.

Inspirational Ideas for Contents Page
Q Contents Page
Kerrang Contents Page
This example of Kerrang! contents page, and in this contents page the main story and focus point is the image of the artist 'Slash' so you get the sense this is the main image of the page because it draws the readers attention, there is no text about the image other than the word 'Slash', because Kerrang think that people don't need much information to draw people to read the page it says it's featured on as they will automatically turn to that page. The colour of Kerrang is used on the front cover as well as the contents page, the use of yellow, white, balck and red and these colours associate with the genre of the music which is rock/indie. The images in the page are very dark and dull so this draws more attention to the text and font colours. They use sub headings for each key feature in the magazine for example in this page they include Feedback, News, and Live Reviews etc. and they stand out because they are divided into different sections. I think the features can appeal to the magazine target audience as i think its what readers would like to see and read about. There is a few images on this contents page to even out the amount of text getting used because I think they don't want to cramp in too much information in the first page to bore the readers. On the right hand side it shows a editors column and what includes in 'this weeks' Kerrang! to get the readers to see what the editor has to say about the magazine. I like the amount of text getting used and the amount of images as it balances it out to equal them out so people can look at both.
NME Contents Page
This is an example of NME music magazines contents page. The main story for this contents page is about the band Kasabian, with a brief paragraph and picture which is presented in the middle of the page make this the main focus point of the contents page, it gets the auidence to read. The colours and theme NME uses the same colours for the contents page as on the front cover which is black, white and red colour scheme. There is a clash of yellow getting used in the contents page to try draw attention to that text so the information that is getting potrayed. NME uses sub headings so the reader can easily find the article they want to read, this is the sort of convention most magazines use. In NME magazine it is divided into six parts News, Radar, Reviews, Live, Features and Plus. The page numbers are next to the articles this helps the reader find what they are looking for. The features on the contents page would help appeal to their target audience because the band that is presented are familiar and well known so the information that is shown they would be interested in. On the left hand side of the page is the band index advertising all of the artists that are featured in the magazine issue and there are page numbers so that the reader knows what page they are featured on. There is not a lot of pictures only one main image of the band 'Kasabian' used on the contents page it is more text this is could mean it's a magazine that has more information inside the rest of the magazine. I think the contents page is set out quite well because its well organised and uses every little space of the page, but however this makes it look quite busy and untidy, but overall think it's got enough information the page needs.

Inspirational Ideas for Doublepage Spreads
Q Magazine Double Page Spread
This Double page spread is from the magazine 'Q'. The layout of the magazine is neat and well presented, with a large picture of the artist 'Lady Gaga' on the left side and then text on the right side. There is no title on this double page spread, only the full A4 size image of the main focus of the article, with the artist been well recognised you don't need a title, but her name is displayed in the upper right hand corner. This gets the viewers to automatically read on further to find out the exclusive information that Q has to offer of one of the most famous woman in the world of the moment. The way Lady Gaga is featured wearing a outfit and posing in a way which would entice readers would find the female form attractive. The editors of the magazine have ensured the article has arousing and sexual content, as it sells well. Gaga is presented to the audience as being multi-genred as she is well known for her pop music, but also being capable to sway into a more rockstar role. The image is a medium close up of Lady Gaga featured on the left hand side of the double page spread, taking up half the article, showing that the image has significance. The photo has been digitally edited from colour to greyscale effect. This means that the double page spread can focus on the three main colours, black, red and white. These colours anchor the genre of Q magazine. The enlarged vibrant red 'L' is featured behind the text not only to alias but also the colour of it anchors Q magazine style. The use of the text separated into 3 colums making it have a long effect making the page look bigger, the font size is small so that more information on the article can be placed onto the oppisite side of the image, the text is very simple so it draws more attention to the image rather than the text, so the main focus point is the image.
NME Double Page Spread
This double page spread of the well know 'NME' music magazine. As you can see one half of the page is dedicated to an image and then the otherside an article. On the left hand side which includes the image of Pete Doherty, and this image usually relates to the front cover picture used. The model pose is a casual look whilst holding alcohol beverages, everything about the picture is casual from the clothes that he is wearing and the body lanuage. The image looks like a dusty, dull also looks like in some senses sepia effect has been used to give it a brigher effect to enlight the models facial features. It looks as thought the background of the model is set outside giving a sense of freedom is been allowed which would draw in the readers attention. The title overlaps the image on the left hand side in the middle of the page the text is in line with each other, whilst being spacious making the page look a lot bigger. The colour of the title is orange and white creating more light on the page, but also i think it creates a crisper and clean look to the page. On other half of the page it includes an article about Pete which is seperated into 3 colums to make it look more organised a easy to read. On the left hand side of the right side of the double page spread the use of the letter 'A' draws the attention of the reader, due to the large font size making you look on the article. So both sides of the double page spreads can be seen as the main focus point to the reader. What I like about this double page spread is the use of variety texts, this makes it look very professional even with the grunge look it has to it, and from this page you can tell it's a typical rock/indie magazine from the use of colours as it has a dirt look to it.
Q Magazine Double Page Spread
Q magazine double page spread and the first thing you notice is the main image and the colours used because it's grabs the readers attention. Typical colours that are associated with America is the red, white and blue for the American flag and you get a sense it's the american flag that the model is sitting on because of the colour use and the main title 'USA got the love'. The use of the clours black and grey giving the double page spread a shadow effect, drawing more attention to the main picture making it the main focus point as the photo takes up about a page and half making the picture look more interesting and exciting for the reader. The fonts used in the article give it a sophisticated look, to go with the singers pose that makes the magazine professional. The use of colums on the right side of the page helps make the article look both neat and organised, but also acts to break up the text making it easier to read without looking too long and boring. The overlap of the image on the 'USA' text making the picture again be the focus point. The title USA shadows behind the image senses that both of these take up most of both pages is significant to the double page spread and even the magazine.
