By researching a range of magazines, Q magazine is what we aim for the
magazines to look similar like and have similar themes throughout. Also Q
and our target audience will be similar and seeing how they attract
audiences from their front cover, and gave us an idea of how we want
the layout our magazine for the similar audience, aiming it as young
adults and music lovers, typically ages 18+. Want to use bright and
simple colour scheme of red, black, white, blue and gold having a theme
throughout so it isn't boring but still attracts the audience and
readers. Our logo should be simple but still catchy so it's easily
remembered magazine making the logo a one word signature stamp so it
become more professional. Using models on our front cover is going to be
the main focus point of the magazine so therefore they must be of good
standard quality and well thought, and decide what poses we could
possibly use, fashion ideas for the model to make the magazine more

Inspirational Ideas for Contents Page
Q Contents Page
Kerrang Contents Page
This example of Kerrang! contents page, and in this contents page the main story and focus point is the image of the artist 'Slash' so you get the sense this is the main image of the page because it draws the readers attention, there is no text about the image other than the word 'Slash', because Kerrang think that people don't need much information to draw people to read the page it says it's featured on as they will automatically turn to that page. The colour of Kerrang is used on the front cover as well as the contents page, the use of yellow, white, balck and red and these colours associate with the genre of the music which is rock/indie. The images in the page are very dark and dull so this draws more attention to the text and font colours. They use sub headings for each key feature in the magazine for example in this page they include Feedback, News, and Live Reviews etc. and they stand out because they are divided into different sections. I think the features can appeal to the magazine target audience as i think its what readers would like to see and read about. There is a few images on this contents page to even out the amount of text getting used because I think they don't want to cramp in too much information in the first page to bore the readers. On the right hand side it shows a editors column and what includes in 'this weeks' Kerrang! to get the readers to see what the editor has to say about the magazine. I like the amount of text getting used and the amount of images as it balances it out to equal them out so people can look at both.
NME Contents Page

This is an example of NME music magazines contents page. The main story for this contents page is about the band Kasabian, with a brief paragraph and picture which is presented in the middle of the page make this the main focus point of the contents page, it gets the auidence to read. The colours and theme NME uses the same colours for the contents page as on the front cover which is black, white and red colour scheme. There is a clash of yellow getting used in the contents page to try draw attention to that text so the information that is getting potrayed. NME uses sub headings so the reader can easily find the article they want to read, this is the sort of convention most magazines use. In NME magazine it is divided into six parts News, Radar, Reviews, Live, Features and Plus. The page numbers are next to the articles this helps the reader find what they are looking for. The features on the contents page would help appeal to their target audience because the band that is presented are familiar and well known so the information that is shown they would be interested in. On the left hand side of the page is the band index advertising all of the artists that are featured in the magazine issue and there are page numbers so that the reader knows what page they are featured on. There is not a lot of pictures only one main image of the band 'Kasabian' used on the contents page it is more text this is could mean it's a magazine that has more information inside the rest of the magazine. I think the contents page is set out quite well because its well organised and uses every little space of the page, but however this makes it look quite busy and untidy, but overall think it's got enough information the page needs.

Inspirational Ideas for Doublepage Spreads
Q Magazine Double Page Spread

This Double page spread is from the magazine 'Q'. The layout of the magazine is neat and well presented, with a large picture of the artist 'Lady Gaga' on the left side and then text on the right side. There is no title on this double page spread, only the full A4 size image of the main focus of the article, with the artist been well recognised you don't need a title, but her name is displayed in the upper right hand corner. This gets the viewers to automatically read on further to find out the exclusive information that Q has to offer of one of the most famous woman in the world of the moment. The way Lady Gaga is featured wearing a outfit and posing in a way which would entice readers would find the female form attractive. The editors of the magazine have ensured the article has arousing and sexual content, as it sells well. Gaga is presented to the audience as being multi-genred as she is well known for her pop music, but also being capable to sway into a more rockstar role. The image is a medium close up of Lady Gaga featured on the left hand side of the double page spread, taking up half the article, showing that the image has significance. The photo has been digitally edited from colour to greyscale effect. This means that the double page spread can focus on the three main colours, black, red and white. These colours anchor the genre of Q magazine. The enlarged vibrant red 'L' is featured behind the text not only to alias but also the colour of it anchors Q magazine style. The use of the text separated into 3 colums making it have a long effect making the page look bigger, the font size is small so that more information on the article can be placed onto the oppisite side of the image, the text is very simple so it draws more attention to the image rather than the text, so the main focus point is the image.
